What’s new in the Aspose.Cells for Java 23.9

Release Highlights

Aspose.Cells for Java 23.9 adds EPUB format import/export support, new chart filtering APIs, and custom formula parsing options. It also resolves major rendering issues in Excel to PDF, HTML, and SVG conversions, including chart overlap, shape loss, and misaligned text. PivotTable bugs and formula conversion exceptions have been addressed to improve overall workbook stability and compatibility.

New Features

  • EPUB Format Support:

    • Load and save .epub files using EbookLoadOptions and EbookSaveOptions.
  • Chart Series Filtering:

    • New APIs to access and control filtered series:
      • Chart.getFilteredNSeries()
      • Series.isFiltered()
  • Custom Formula Definition:

    • Define custom function behavior via CustomFunctionDefinition.
    • Parse and calculate formulas using:
      • FormulaParseOptions.setCustomFunctionDefinition()
      • Worksheet.calculateFormula(...) (with overloads)

Enhancements

  • Formula Conversion Improvements:

    • Replace deprecated CellsHelper.convertR1C1FormulaToA1() with the new method Worksheet.convertFormulaReferenceStyle().
  • PivotTable Refresh Stability:

    • Added WorksheetCollection.refreshAll() to refresh all pivot objects reliably.
  • Rendering API Improvements:

    • Dispose methods added to SheetRender and WorkbookRender for explicit resource cleanup.
    • DPI configuration via new GridWeb.setDPI() property.

Bug Fixes

  • Rendering Issues (PDF/HTML/SVG):

    • Fixed shape loss, truncated text, and incorrect alignment in exports.
    • Corrected Y-axis label placement, donut chart label overlap, and 3D chart inconsistencies.
    • Resolved underlining and chart title style issues in HTML.
  • Pivot Table Bugs:

    • Prevented corruption after PivotTable.refreshData().
    • Fixed incorrect background colors and display issues in rendered output.
  • Formula and Parsing Errors:

    • Addressed exceptions when handling formulas with “R”, “C”, or “RC”.
    • Corrected YEARFRAC and worksheet calculation regressions.
